First wedding of the season is under wraps The couple, Shandi and Kurt, tied the Knot on June 20th at Beckenridge Vineyard in Dallas Oregon. This was a first for me as, I have never shot a early afternoon wedding…All my weddings have been in the evening, so it was very different to be covering the reception and look out the windows and see daylight, LOL.

I always love the stories behind the couple and how the question actually got asked and all those fun little details…Yes, I know a bit of a hopeless romantic…but hey I love shooting weddings, so I should be into that right?

As you go through the photos you will find the ring shot with some M&M’s that ask the question and this is exactly how Kurt asked Shandi! (super awesome!)…Shandi was sick and Kurt, being the sweet gentlemen that he is, was taking care of her…when she asked for some M&M’s…He went to get her some and came back with the ones you see in the photo (except a ton of them…not just 2, LOL)…I believe it took her a few moments to notice that he was asking the questions with the M&M’s, but she figured it out and the rest is history…So I of course had to shoot the ring shot with the M&Ms…

As with all my couples we become good friends through out the entire process of me helping them out with kind of planning out the day…ask any photographer, we are small bits of wedding planners as well as being a photographer, but my wife’s mom knows the mother of the groom, so it was all that more special.

There tend to be two kinds of couples that have me shoot their wedding…1st group of couples are not so much concerned with super dynamic portraits, while the 2nd group is extremely into portraits.  Kurt and Shandi fell into the 1st group and wanted more of me to just capture the day as it unfolds and too be able to tell the story from a photojournalist style of shooting… My wife and I took the same apporach for our wedding.  Plus they were leaving the venue fairly early, time was tight to work out some major portraits, so it worked out well from that stand point.

They were such a fun couple and the bridal party was a hoot as well…I always have fun shooting weddings and the bridal couple was all about that!!!!! Thank you Shandi and Kurt for bestowing the honor of me being the one to capture your wedding day story!!!!

A couple of yours truly, courtsey of my wonderful 2nd shooter, Sara , It is rare that you will find a photo of me, but I figure it is always fun for a couple shots of me working it out…

I did an e-sess with Kathy and Ryan and it was an absolute blast…They were great to work with and pick a great location for a photos shoot…Makes it so easy when clients pick great locations! They warmed up to having a camera pointed at them and become themselves very easily, which is always better for photos. They have been together for 7 years…with that much time already under their belt, I am sure they will make it many, many more years! They have such a good time together, it is great to see that.
